Spiced just right, this simple egg free recipe will light up the taste buds.
Ingredients:
- 3 cups flour (all-purpose or whole wheat)
- ½ cup sugar
- 2 teaspoon baking soda
- 1 cup soft butter
- 1 tablespoon cinnamon powder
- 1 teaspoon allspice
- 1 can evaporate milk
- 1 can condensed milk (sweetened)
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 1 can strawberry pie filling
Directions:
- Mix all the dry ingredients (flour, sugar, baking soda, cinnamon powder, and all spices) together in a bowl using a wooden spoon.
- Add the soft butter, evaporated milk, condensed milk and vanilla in the dry mixture and using a hand beater/mixer mix all the ingredients together for about 3 minutes or until the batter is nice and thick (tip: you can use wooden spoon to mix ingredients as well, but ensure that all the ingredients in the bottom are mixed well).
- In a different bowl, pour the strawberry pie filling and 1 or 1½ cup of the cake mixture. Using a spatula mix both the items without squashing the strawberries.
- Preheat the oven to 325oF. In a 9x 13inch glass pan, brush the bottom and the sides with the butter and sprinkle some flour.
- Pour the strawberry mixture to the glass pan and spread the mixture evenly using a spatula.
- Pour the cake mixture on top of the strawberry mixture and spread it evenly using a spatula.
- Bake the cake for about 45-50 minutes in the oven.
- Once baked, remove the pan from the oven and leave the cake to cool down for about 10-15 minutes before you turn the cake on a different tray/board.
